Frequently Asked Questions

I ordered photos and they were fuzzy or not as sharp as I thought they were going to be.

We take shots in some very low-light situations and due to this the shots will be grainy at times and not as sharp.  Any of our events online allow you to zoom in extremely close so the quality should be no surprise. However, we do offer a money back guarantee through our lab.

When will the photos be online from my event?

Unlike some companies , we strive to  have our photos online within 72 hours of the event and in most cases sooner. For extremely large events we will note the time for the photos to be placed online.

There was somebody taking photos of the event and they're giving them away.  Why do you charge for your photos?

Event planners ask us to photograph the event because they can depend on us and will allow us to gain access to positions on the race course or to the event  to take good quality photos.  We also have several photographers working with us at larger events like triathlons or marathons and this allows us to cover the event better than someone with a single camera in a single location.  We also give strive to give back a portion of our profits to the event if they are raising money for  a charity. The owner and founder of Big Shot Event Photo has given his time to local events for years and continues to do.

How long does it take to get my photo once I have ordered it?

Orders are processed in the order that they are received and usually you have them within 10 days.  Holidays can cause a few additional days' delay. If we are providing a custom collage or product, we will advise you on order times for that specific order.

Do you give proofs if I request them?

No.  We allow you to view the photo online and zoom in so you can see the quality.  We also give you the option to crop the photos in checkout so you have some control over the process.

I got a photo  from one of those guys with the single camera and there is a copyright on it.   What do I do now that I can't get anybody to develop it?

"You can get your photos for free here."  Well, if they are giving them away, then why are they giving them away with strings attached?  We know the story too well.  You went to get your digital image printed and the processing center told you they couldn't because it was copyrighted.  What a cruel joke on you.  The images that you buy from us are yours and if you buy the digital image you have it with no copyright on it.  Other photographers even tell  you that they have rights to the image if you use it for other than personal use.  We don't do that.  You purchase the image from us and it is yours.  You can run it on a national image campaign and we don't care.

I was at the race and finished but I can't find a photo of myself, What happened?

Unfortunately, shots are sometimes missed due to positioning or logistic problems or if a large group finishes in a cluster so that everyone can't be seen in the photograph.  We do our best to photograph every competitor or attendee, but it isn't always possible.

There is a $10 picture fee for the first picture and $5.00 for each picture after that.  Do I get a picture (4”x6”) for the $10, or do I still have to order a 5”x7” or 8”x10”?  In other words, if I want one picture will it cost me $10 or $10 plus $2.99 for a 5”x7”?

Actually this is a photographer fee and is based  on the amount of participants at an event. Most average events will have a $10 photographers fee for the first picture and $5 for second picture.

Yes it will cost you $10 plus the cost of photos.  You pay that fee only once for the photo, so if you bought a 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10  of the same photo you would pay $10 plus the cost of the 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10. Our set up is a little different than other companies.  We have tried to set up a system that is fair for the customer who would like to buy more than one of a different photo.  Let me give you an example:

Example One:

If you order two 4x6's of one photo and two 4x6's of a different photo  our cost is 19.76 plus shipping.

If you do the same with one of our competitors it will cost you $33.98 plus shipping.

Example Two:
If you order two 8x10's, four 5x7's and two 4x6's it will cost you $40.32 plus shipping.

If you do the same with one of our competitors it will cost you $59.99 plus shipping.

The picture fees are actually a photographers fee that cover the time and effort of the photographer.  I think you will agree that we are very competitively priced against our competitors.
